11: The first of 2019! And, 3 things I have learned in 2018!

Hello You!

Happy New Year!

The first post of 2019! Hooray!

I know I haven’t been here for a while and I know it is the end of January, but anyway…I am here now.:)

How are you? Have you set your intentions for the new year yet? Did you take some time to reflect on the year that has just passed? What did you learn? What are you looking forward to?

Week 10: Things you write in an aeroplane! And, Change!

Hello You!

Let me tell you a little fairytale!

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a plane flying above the clouds.

You could see the clear sky, you could see the stars, you could feel the freedom. Yes, sometimes you can feel the freedom.

The plane was flying proud and powerful!

And then,

Week 9: Your words have power! And, be careful how you talk to yourself!

Hello You!

I hope all is well!

So, this week I have been thinking about how we talk to ourselves and how easy it is for us to diminish and demoralise ourselves.

How many times have you used the phrases ’I hate my’ or ‘I wish I’ referring to yourself?

I hate my eyes, ears, nose, skin, belly, hair, thighs or I wish I was an x amount of kilos less or more or I wish I was taller or shorter or I hate my everything and I wish I was someone else! Ok, I am exaggerating a bit (and it is not always about the physical appearance!) but you know what I mean!

Week 8: What is a mentor? Do you have a mentor? Should I have a mentor? Should we ALL have a mentor?

Hello You!

I hope you are well!

This week I wanted us to explore the idea of a mentor.

What is a mentor really? Is a mentor always an older wiser human who has all the answers to all of the questions? Maybe. Sometimes.

The more I think about it though, the more I believe that the concept of a mentor is changing or to be more accurate it has already changed.

Week 7: 'Jim Carrey: I needed color'

Hello You!

I hope you are where you want to be!

This week was one of those weeks where you have a million ideas of what you want to say, do or write, but at the same time nothing makes sense and everything seems to be uninteresting and boring. I couldn’t make myself write any of the things on my list. The only thing that it was making sense was this ‘Jim Carrey: I needed color’ video. I don’t know exactly why but I love this video and I always love going back to it whenever I feel stuck.

Week 6: Blast from the past: A film photography course! And, Film is Not Dead!

Hello You!

I hope you are well!

This week’s post is another blast from the past! I wrote this one for Ilford’s blog back in 2016.

So…

November 2016

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

- Albert Einstein.

Week 5: It is OK to change your mind! And, my favourite Instagram account!

Hello You!

I hope you have a big smile on your face!:)

Following my last week’s post on Silence, I decided that it would be better to let someone else do the talking this week. So, I thought to myself; “This week I will just share a few poems from one of my most favourite Instagram accounts. That’s it!’’

But then, a few days ago, the account’s name changed, and you guessed correctly, I have a few thoughts on this and I would like to share them with you.

Week 4: Silence

Hello You!

I hope you are enjoying your days!

This week I wanted us to talk about one of my most favourite topics, the Silence.

I was passing by an art gallery the other day - “Lets go to the shop for a minute”, I said, “I want to see what they have” - a considerable amount of time later, I leave the shop with a book called Silence: In the Age of Noise! by Erling Kagge.

Week 2: How to stop comparing yourself to Others!

Hello You!

I hope this finds you well!

So… I have been thinking a lot about the ‘comparison trap’ lately… and I decided to share my thoughts with You! Lucky You!;)

I was thinking about the kind of comparison where we compare our whole lives with other people's highlight moments, the comparison where we compare our whole lives, thoughts, efforts, dreams, struggles, our work with the carefully curated social media versions of other people's lives, the comparison where we compare our whole lives with that of people we have never met, people for whom the struggles they face we will never know, the one that leaves us with the inevitable feeling of 'not being enough'. That kind of comparison!
